Camp Cultivation is the results of a partnership between the Wendell Scott Foundation, the USDA, and Virginia State University and will be held this June 23rd – June 25th, on the campus of Virginia State University (VSU). The camp will be a three (3) day overnight summer camp that will focus on agriculture, as well as, STEM topics for rising high school juniors and seniors. It is a hands-on learning experience, allowing participants to learn about such topics as the environment, soil composition and conservation, and urban and community gardening. While the camp will focus mainly on agriculture, it will explore STEM careers in engineering, technology, and how these STEM topics relate to farming. The ultimate goal of Camp Cultivation is to have participants get excited at how multifaceted farming is becoming, in its application of emerging technology.
