Wendell Scott Foundation, Inc. of Danville, Virginia has been given a $2,000 grant from the Womack Foundation. The Womack Foundation was established to provide financial support to enhance educational and recreational opportunities for the residents of Caswell County, NC and Danville and Pittsylvania County, VA.
The grant will be used in support of the Steer into STEM After School Program, a component of the mentoring program provided by the Wendell Scott Foundation. The program is for high school students in Danville, Pittsylvania County and surrounding areas, which allows them the opportunity to learn technological concepts and explore careers in the fields of; or which rely on; application of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
The Wendell Scott Foundation is in partnership with the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research, which is the facilitator for the program. This partnership is based on the shared goal to increase the academic performance and proficiency levels of these students and to increase interest in STEM curriculum and careers. By supporting the Wendell Scott Foundation, the Womack Foundation is making these objectives possible.
The Wendell Scott Foundation is accepting donations to fund future youth service programs. You may make a donation at wendellscott.org, where you will also find more information on the Foundation.
